IWC announced reference IW388310 on 15 October 2026 ahead of the Year of the Goat, which begins on 6 February 2027. The edition is limited to 500 pieces, but the more useful collector question is how well its symbolism survives ordinary wear. IWC keeps the answer mostly below the surface: a gold-coloured dial warms the familiar Performance Chronograph layout, while the most explicit motif sits on the rotor and in the calendar aperture.
The 30-second collector read
This is a 41 mm by 14.7 mm titanium automatic chronograph with a black ceramic tachymeter bezel, 10-bar water resistance and a tool-free EasX-CHANGE calfskin strap. Calibre 69385 offers a 46-hour reserve and a vertical counter layout. Buy it for a culturally specific object that remains legible and mechanically conventional. Pause if the thickness, short reserve or €13,400 official regional price makes the special details feel secondary.
Gold changes the instrument-watch tone
The gold-coloured dial, black registers and gold-plated hands deliberately soften a design usually associated with motorsport and instrument reading. Titanium prevents the warm palette from turning the case into jewellery, while the black ceramic bezel restores the technical frame. The result is not discreet, but it is coherent: the dial carries the celebratory colour without asking the numerals or chronograph layout to become decorative symbols.

The rotor is the real collector detail
Through the sapphire caseback, a gold-plated oscillating mass depicts three goats, a motif that IWC links to bliss and the beginning of a positive cycle in Chinese tradition. It is hidden when the watch is worn, which makes it a private ownership detail rather than a public logo. The day-date adds a smaller recurring gesture: on the eighth day of each month, the Chinese character for goat replaces the numeral 8.

Mechanically familiar, practically robust
The IWC-manufactured 69385 runs at 4 Hz, uses 242 components and 33 jewels, and times hours, minutes and seconds. Elapsed minutes sit at 12 o’clock, small seconds at 6, and the 12-hour counter at 9. A screw-in crown, pressure-secured sapphire crystal and 10-bar rating give the edition more everyday range than many calendar-themed collector pieces. The 46-hour reserve is the compromise to note.

What the buyer should verify
The official European product page lists €13,400 including VAT, while IWC’s Swiss page lists CHF 10,400; regional pricing and availability should be confirmed locally. Buyers should also check how the black calfskin strap suits the intended climate and whether an alternate EasX-CHANGE strap is available. The 500-piece count is verified, but no conclusion about future demand, allocation difficulty or investment performance is justified.
